    About

    About Lara Saker

Hi, I’m Lara Saker — a passionate and dedicated Speech Pathologist with over six years of experience across the private, government, and disability sectors. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of supporting hundreds of families and collaborating closely with key stakeholders across children’s everyday environments, including homes, early learning settings, schools, telehealth, and the wider community.

I believe parents and caregivers are the most powerful agents of change in a child's life. My approach is highly collaborative, empowering families with the knowledge, strategies, and confidence to support their child's growth, communication, and wellbeing in meaningful everyday moments.

Known for my warm, bubbly, and engaging nature, I strive to build genuine, trusting relationships with every child, family, and professional I work alongside. I practise within an interdisciplinary, trauma-informed, and neuro-affirming framework, valuing each child's individuality and strengths while creating safe, supportive, and meaningful therapeutic experiences that help children thrive and flourish.

Eight years of practice, and a working knowledge of Bluey.

I’ve been a Speech Pathologist for almost eight years, working with paediatric and adult clients across rural, community, and inpatient contexts. I have a passion for working with families to help parents develop confidence and skills to improve their child’s communication. I understand that every child is different and strive to provide individual treatment and recommendations.

I love playing (and often losing) many fun games, and enjoy learning more about Pokémon, Fortnite, Miss Rachel, Bluey, Minecraft, and Paw Patrol. I look forward to meeting you!

    What to expect

What to Expect from Speech Therapy

A range of formal and informal assessment tools will be used to identify strengths and areas of difficulty across multiple domains. Following the assessment process, the Speech Pathologist will work collaboratively with the client and their primary caregivers to establish meaningful, individualised goals.

Evidence-based therapy approaches will then be implemented to support the development of functional communication and everyday skills across the client's natural environments. The Speech Pathologist will also collaborate with educators, key stakeholders, and other health professionals to help ensure strategies are consistently applied across settings.

Parents and caregivers can expect personalised coaching during sessions to build the skills and confidence needed to carry over therapy strategies at home, in the community, and during everyday activities. Your Speech Pathologist will also provide ongoing advocacy and support for you or your child throughout the therapy journey.
